Below is a list of all CDES/LDES available at Heritage, including those available only to freshman. Please keep in mind that some of these opportunities may only be available to students who meet certain criteria.

Agricultural Tools and Materials
|
Description: A team event in which members will identify tools based on their appearance and use.

Creed Speaking
|
Description: An individual event in which a member recites the FFA Creed from memory and answers questions about its meaning and purpose.

Quiz Bowl
|
Description: A team event in which students will be asked individual and team questions about the FFA organization.

Agricultural Sales
|
Description: A team event in which students will create a sales plan for a fabricated scenario and complete a written exam that tests their knowledge of sales concepts.

Agriscience Fair
|
Description: An individual or team event in which students prepare a scientific study on an agricultural topic and present the study to judges via a display and report.

Dairy Cattle Evaluation and Management
|
Description: A team event in which students will be asked to evaluate dairy cattle based on their physical characteristics, explain classes and analyze herd record.

Extemporaneous Public Speaking
|
Description: An individual event in which students must prepare themselves to speak on a variety of agricultural topics and are given thirty minutes to prepare a 4-6 minute speech and answer relevant questions.

Farm Business Management
|
Description: A team event in which students will apply business and economic skills to complete a written test on business management and solve farm analysis problems.

Floriculture
|
Description: A team event in which students will be asked to identify plants, judge flower arrangements, solve problems, and demonstrate flower arranging.

Introduction to Horticulture

Description: A NC only team event in which students must identify plants, weeds and pests, and demonstrate general horticultural knowledge.

Job Interview
|
Description: An individual event in which students will create and submit a cover letter, resume and job application, as well as conduct a mock personal interview.

Livestock Evaluation
|
Description: A team event in which students will be asked to rank breeding and market classes of livestock and give oral reasons to back up their rankings.

Marketing Plan
|
Description: A team event in which students will create, present, and answer questions about a marketing plan for a fabricated project.

Nursery Landscape
|
Description: A team event in which students will be tested in the maintenance of landscape plants and related equipment, and asked to demonstrate landscape design.

Poultry Evaluation
|
Description: A team event in which students will engage in activities and evaluations demonstrating their understanding of poultry management, production, processing, marketing and food safety.

Prepared Public Speaking
|
Description: An individual event in which students will write and deliver a six to eight minute speech and answer questions from judges related to the speech.

Ritual and Parliamentary Procedure
|
Description: A team event in which students will work together to demonstrate the application of proper Parliamentary Procedure in a faux Chapter meeting.

Tractor Safety and Skills
|
Description: An individual event in which a student must navigate a tractor with an attached small trailer through a set course with accuracy.

Truck Safety and Skills

Description: An individual event in which a student must navigate a pickup truck through a set course with accuracy.

Veterinary Science

Description: A team event in which students will take a written exam on general veterinary knowledge and identification, and perform practicums on the same principals.
