What is SAE?
The acronym "SAE" stands for "Supervised Agricultural Experience". The National Council for Agricultural Education defines SAE as student-led, instructor-supervised, work-based learning experience that results in measurable outcomes within a predefined, agreed upon set of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Technical Standards and Career Ready Practices aligned to your Career Plan of study. To sum it up, SAE is simply individual experience gained within an agricultural field outside of the classroom. During your time in agriculture classes at HHS, you will develop SAE projects, in which you will plan and stick with one SAE application for a long period of time. There are limitless examples of SAE, but some good examples include: - Building, planning, growing and maintaining a raised bed at home - Doing regular lawn maintenance - Working at an agriculture based placement (such as a nursery or veterinary office) - Working with the HHS Green Team after school - Working with the HHS Animal Team after school SAE will be logged on AET (Agricultural Experience Tracker). This will be explained in class, but if you need help, ask an advisor. When creating your SAE, focus on something you're passionate about! It's important to gain experience that will be relevant to you in the future, so focus your efforts on things that interest you! |
